About the Show

To be able to create and be visible in Black Joy as the beautiful, multi-faceted Black humans that we are is a precious, incredible opportunity.

Kayla V. White, Director

Clock Production’s annual theatre festival is going virtual! BLACK JOY is a World Premiere featuring a variety of original scenes, songs, and spoken word pieces, all written and performed by Black artists. The festival will have a Facebook and YouTube Online Premiere on October 16th at 7:30pm CST followed immediately by a Live Talkback with the artists. The show will also be available to stream here on the website from October 16th thru 31st. Tickets are a Pay What You Can donation, available here.

Adapted and Directed by Clock alumna Kayla V. White, BLACK JOY takes a physical and emotional journey through the seasons, sharing stories about being Black in America.

BLACK JOY is written by Ian Coulter-Buford, Gregory J. Fields, alfonzo kahlil, Breauna L. Roach, Ariel Etana Triunfo, Maria White, and Octavia White. The ensemble includes Aria Caldwell, Ben F. Locke, Tracie Marie, Morgan McCane, and Larry D. Trice II. Clock alumna Lesley Fisher Chapman is the Production and Stage Manager. Learn more about all the artists here.

Being Black cannot be quantified or qualified, but it can be performed and shared. Clock Productions invites audiences to travel through the seasons with its performers and experience a spectrum of emotions: Black Pain, Black Fear, Black Anger, Black Hope, and yes, BLACK JOY!
